Grass Lake Backpacking Adventure

Information

August 8-10, 2017 the Lodi Pathfinders will be going on a backpacking trip to Grass Lake located near South Lake Tahoe, California.  We will meet at the Fairmont Church parking lot about 8:00 AM on Tuesday, August 8 and return to the church  in the evening of Thursday, August 10.

It will take about 3 hours to drive to the Glen Alpine Trailhead where we will start the hike to Grass Lake.  It is a 3 mile moderate hike from the trailhead to the lake.  We will setup our base camp when we reach the lake.  We will be spending the two nights at Grass Lake.  The second day we plan to do a day hike. The day hike is about 6 mile round trip to Suzie Lake and back.  The third day (Thursday) we will break camp and take a leisurely hike back to the cars and then drive home.

On the Grass Lake Backpacking Adventure you will be carrying all your equipment and supplies in your backpack while hiking the 3 miles up to the lake and again on the return hike.  The hike will be along the lightly traveled Glen Alpine Trail.  This trail is rated “Moderate” by AllTrails.com.  You will need a good backpack, hiking boots, sleeping bag & pad, and several other items listed on the Backpackers Check List.  The check list and other details are available here for downloading.  Click on the links below.
